FLINT, Michigan — “Sometimes the best laughter is medicine” is a familiar phrase, but one that feels especially relevant as Communities First, Inc. prepares to bring an evening of comedic medicine brewed straight from the heart and felt in the deepest part of Flint.

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Communities First, Inc. (CFI) will host the Good for the Soul Comedy Show 2 at the Flint Farmers’ Market, a ticketed fundraiser designed to uplift the community while supporting programs that strengthen families and neighborhoods across the region.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served prior to the comedy show beginning at 7:00 p.m. The $50 ticket price includes both dinner and the performance, with a cash bar available. Use coupon code CFI2GOOD to receive a discounted rate of $40 for a single ticket, or take advantage of the buy one, get one half off offer—two tickets for $75. Seating is limited, so advance purchase is encouraged.

The TV-clean (PG-13) comedy lineup features a mix of nationally recognized and rising comedic talent. Midwest favorite Steve Lind will serve as emcee, joined by comedians Kesha No “I,” Pat Gaines, and Kate Brindle. The evening will be headlined by Bryan McCree, whose credits include Mad TV, Comedy Central, and Comics Unleashed.

According to Communities First, Inc. President and CEO Glenn Wilson, the event is about more than entertainment.

“At Communities First, we believe community building isn’t only about housing, economic opportunity, or community programming — it’s also about the soul of our community,” Wilson said. “The Good for the Soul Comedy Show is exactly that, a moment for people to breathe, laugh, and reconnect with one another in a meaningful way.”

Wilson emphasized that, after the challenges many families and neighborhoods continue to navigate, creating spaces centered on joy is intentional.

“Comedy has a unique power to disarm stress, bring people together across differences, and remind us of our shared humanity,” he said.

The event also provides an opportunity to elevate performers while reinvesting in the community. Wilson noted that supporting artists and generating resources for CFI’s mission creates mutual benefit.

“It’s a win-win,” he said. “Artists are elevated, the community is uplifted, and resources are generated to reinvest back into the people we serve.”

Proceeds from the event will directly support Communities First, Inc.’s work in affordable housing, economic development, and innovative programming. Headquartered in Flint, CFI serves more than 45,000 community members across Michigan and Indiana.

“In times like these, laughter is not a luxury — it’s necessary,” Wilson said. “Events like this strengthen community bonds, restore hope, and remind us that even in hard seasons, there is still room for joy, connection, and collective healing.”

The Good for the Soul Comedy Show 2 will take place at the Flint Farmers’ Market, located at 300 E. First St. Tickets can be purchased at CFIComedyShow2026, and additional donations are welcome.
