FLINT, Michigan — Local entrepreneurs have the chance to secure up to $15,000 in funding through the Flint & Genesee Small Business Support Hub Grant Program, which is now accepting applications.

The program, administered by the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, offers three tiers of awards tailored to businesses at different stages:

  • $5,000 for startups in business more than one year but less than three,
  • $10,000 for micro businesses with three or more years in operation and fewer than 10 full-time employees, and
  • $15,000 for small businesses with three or more years in operation and more than 10 full-time employees.

All applicants must live and operate within Genesee County, submit a current business plan, and outline how grant funds will be used. Franchises and nonprofits are not eligible.

“Through the program, we work closely with grantees through in-person and virtual trainings to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to use these grant dollars effectively,” said Karena Hamlet, program director of business services for the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance. “We just finished up with an amazing cohort from last year’s grant who have all come a long way to get their businesses to new heights.”

Applications will be reviewed through a two-step process. Businesses must first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) by Oct. 30 to determine eligibility. Approved applicants will then be invited to complete the full application, due Oct. 31.
