Makenzie Schroeder is a Flint native who is currently attending the University of Michigan-Flint, studying communications and political science. She graduated from Kearsley High School. She is a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, writes for the Michigan Times, enjoys spending time with her family and dogs as well as reading a good book.
The North Flint Revitalization Initiative is among the top 7 percent of grant applications nationwide to be named a finalist for the major placemaking award.
Local and regional prizes will be awarded in seven area counties. The competition targets the logistics, technology, professional services, advanced manufacturing, and craft agriculture and beverages industries.
Called 80s in the Hole, the festival will feature about 80 collectable cars, live music, a half-dozen food trucks, beer and wine ... and big hair, neon, and other, like, gnarly stuff.
