Xandr Brown is the editor emeritus of Flintside. She also served as project editor for Flintside's inaugural On the Ground series in the Civic Park neighborhood and is a lifelong resident of Genesee County. A graduate of Powers Catholic High School, she went on to the University of Rochester in New York state, where she earned a bachelor's degree with a dual major in English/Communications and History and minor in Environmental Humanities. Xandr especially loves photography and is also a classically trained pianist.

The Greater Flint Urgent Relief Fund—launched in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and the United Way of Genesee County— was announced last month. With social distancing in full effect the fund was formed to offer relief to nonprofits in three key ways: addressing the direct needs and services; tending to infrastructure and internal operations; any added volunteer costs that may arise in addressing community needs during the pandemic.

Flint is his hometown and this isn’t his first go-round with engaging his city in the census process. The goal, Turner said, is to ultimately exceed expectations no matter what.

Kettering University launches emergency fund for struggling students
