Big Donut and Gaddie bring local sound to ‘Flint Under the Stars’ at FIM Capitol Theatre
‘Flint Under the Stars’ returns Oct. 15 with Big Donut and Gaddie, two local acts blending rock, soul, and hometown energy at the FIM Capitol Theatre.

FLINT, Michigan — Flint’s own rock trio Big Donut and multi-genre artist Gaddie are set to light up the stage at the next Flint Under the Stars concert on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. inside the historic FIM Capitol Theatre.
Big Donut, a high-energy power trio, has spent the past decade crafting a sound that fuses punk, surf rock, and rhythm and blues. Influenced by legends like Cream, Band of Gypsies, and the Mothers of Invention, members Vaughn (guitar), Ryan (bass), and Shane (drums) have recorded more than 100 songs and released over ten projects on major streaming platforms. Their performances bring a mix of nostalgia and experimentation that reflects Flint’s creative edge.
Joining them is Gaddie, also known as It’s Deonta, a Flint-born artist whose music defies easy categorization. Drawing inspiration from Gil Scott-Heron, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and the poetry of his parents, Gaddie describes his style as “filling” — music that nourishes both heart and soul. A versatile musician, he plays everything from trombone and baritone to drums and guitar, with a performance history that includes The Old Miami, Frankenmuth Fire Festival, and Flint Local 432.
The Flint Under the Stars concert series shines a light on local talent each month beneath the FIM Capitol Theatre’s glowing starry dome. With a donate-what-you-wish model and a $5 minimum donation, all proceeds support KidsTix, a program that provides free access to live performances for children and families.
The event is recommended for ages 13 and up. Get your tickets here.
