Community Foundation of Greater Flint adds two new community leaders to board

FLINT, Michigan — The Community Foundation of Greater Flint has added two new Board of Trustees members to the independent board. The Foundation looks for community members who bring their professional experience and a level of care for community involvement in order to further their mission.

Since 1988, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF), a 501(c)3 charity, has been dedicated to Flint and Genesee County’s future. The organization influences and connects generosity through arts, education, health, human services, and other areas to Clio, Davison, Fenton, Flushing, and Grand Blanc. 

The CFGF works with a wide range of partners and focus areas, including Centering Equity, Community Leadership Fund, Flint Center for Educational Excellence, Flint Kids Fund, Flint Neighborhoods, and Flint Promise.

The organization is a merger of the Flint Public Trust and the Flint Area Health Foundation with a vision of a vibrant, thriving, equitable Genesee County. Since its inception, the CFGF has awarded more than $140 million in grants, from over 34,000 donors and 800 charitable funds. 

One of the two new members includes Mark Miller, a retired General Motors executive. Miller, a member of the Legacy Society, previously was on the CFGF Board of Trustees for nine years. He joins the board again, this time, as a co-chair, next to Mark Piper. Miller brings with him a robust resume of current community knowledge and commitment as an Executive Board Member at McLaren Hospital and a current Board member at McLaren Foundation.

Jill Norwood, a Flint native, also joins the Board. The former teacher and past Junior League of Flint President and member brings her knowledge and experience from the Fenton Community Fund Advisory Committee.
