Genesee District Library to honor 3 at annual Black History Month brunch

Awards of Excellence will be presented to 1st District County Commissioner Bryant Nolden, 2005 Greater Flint Afro-American Hall of Fame inductee Clifton Turner, and Mott Community College President Beverly Walker-Griffea.

Love, love, love: Flint celebrates MLK through service

Among all the activity was one special event this year: The single largest volunteer effort on MLK Day we've ever seen. The United Way of Genesee County gathered 550 volunteers at the Dort Federal Event Center to help pack 120,000 meals donated to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and local food pantries.
