FLINT, Michigan — On Tuesday, June 4, the Class of ’24 students from Flint Accelerated Learning Academy and Southwestern Classical Academy walked across the grand stage of FIM’s Whiting Auditorium for their commencement ceremony, a symbol of their hard work and dedication.
Adorned in teal-colored graduation robes, 102 students proudly received their high school diplomas. Each announcement was met with thunderous applause from a packed crowd of parents, siblings, community members, and more.
Southwestern’s principal, Christopher Ochodnicky, gave the introductory remarks, followed by Micaiah Brown and John Lynch, the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
The president of Flint’s Board of Education, Dr. Joyce Ellis-Mcneal, and Flint’s Superintendent, Mr. Kevelin Jones, praised the students before the keynote speaker, Richard Russell, the principal of Accelerated Learning Academy, took to the podium.
