FLINT, Michigan —On Tuesday, Dec. 6, the Flint Cultural Center Corporation hosted the 37th annual Holiday Walk by connecting a series of outdoor and indoor events between the Flint Institute of Arts, Longway Planetarium, Flint Public Library, The Whiting, Flint Repertory Theatre, Sloan Museum of Discovery, Dort Music Center, Flint Cultural Center Academy, and Applewood.
Free to the public, the city walks of the College Cultural Center were transformed into a winter wonderland filled with music, lights, and the Christmas spirit. Kearsley Street was filled with hundreds of people walking to the events between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. that evening.
At Applewood, visitors could sip on hot cider and eat cookies while walking through illuminated ice carvings and listening to carolers sing Christmas classics. Inside The Whiting, guests could find shelter from the cold and watch El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil Mariachi Band perform live.
The Sloan Museum was filled with Flintstones, and guests had the opportunity to walk through a brand new Flint History exhibit while enjoying any of the other exhibits within the museum. Some guests even reported sightings of Santa Claus and the Grinch during the Holiday Walk during the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Jenifer Veloso is Flintside's special projects editor. A photographer and writer, she covers neighborhoods, public health, and social justice and equity. She developed her passion for storytelling while working as a trauma nurse in an emergency department in Flint. She is the daughter of Brasilian immigrants and was the first in her family’s history to be raised in the United States. She has led documentary journalism projects focused on emergency responders, frontline workers, and the empowerment of women. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint.
