FLINT, Michigan—Another Florida destination has been added to the service at Bishop International Airport with direct flights to and from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. This seasonal flight also comes on Allegiant, which also just recently announced it would again provide seasonal Ft. Lauderdale service.
The new flights to Sarasota launch Nov. 24. and will operate twice weekly.
“We’re very happy to bring the people of Flint a new, nonstop option for travel to Sarasota/Bradenton,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue. “We know local area residents will enjoy our convenient, affordable service to get away to beautiful southwest Florida this winter.”
A specialty, low-cost airline, Allegiant has grown exponentially this year at Bishop, surpassing Delta Airlines as the largest airline in Flint. It accounts for about 40 percent of Bishop Airport’s customers — largely because of its non-stop service to Florida destinations. Allegiant also offers direct flights to Orlando, Tampa Bay, and Punta Gorda in Florida.
Bishop Airport also is served by United, which added additional Chicago service in April, and American, which launches service to Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 4.

“The fine, white sand beaches of Sarasota-Bradenton have been loved by our southeast Michigan passengers for decades. This is the first time in the history of our airport that we have been able to provide our passengers with nonstop service to this region of Florida’s Gulf Coast,” said Nino Sapone, airport deputy director. “To have that service on Allegiant, with their amazing ultra- low-cost fares and vacation packages, just makes it all the sweeter.”
Tickets to Ft. Lauderdale and Allegiant’s other destinations are available online at
allegiant.com or through a travel agent. Allegiant does not show up on booking sites like Expedia and Travelocity.
