FLINT, Michigan — The Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) is putting an artistic twist on Halloween this year with its first annual 'Artful Halloween' party. Happening on Saturday, October 29 from 8:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m, the FIA will provide an evening filled with music, food, special gallery tours, a haunting hot shop demo, and several spooky surprises.
A minimum age of 21 is required to enter as a bar will be available for alcoholic beverages, and the food will be prepared by Flint's own Chef Nate Brown.
Music for 'Artful Halloween' will be provided by Alex Kadie, also known as DJ AK, who is the co-owner of
Eight Ten Nail Bar. Local photographer Jessica Hatter will also be there to capture moments of the eventful night.
An interesting highlight of the night will be the hot shop demo where party-goers get to experience Halloween-themed glass performance art.
Marissa Pierce, FIA’s Director of Development, spoke to Flintside about the party and said that she’s excited for the fright-filled night which includes the special pop-up dark tour,
Enchanted: The History of Fantasy Illustration, that’s sure to be big fun for those in attendance.
When asked if party-goers are encouraged to dress up in costumes for 'Artful Halloween,' Pierce replied that it’s definitely encouraged although it isn’t required. “I’m hearing some fun ideas from those that have already bought tickets, so I can’t wait to see what everyone wears,” said Pierce.
The party is sponsored by The Contemporaries, an affiliate group of the FIA that has access to the museum through special events, tours, workshops, and networking with other young professionals.
'Artful Halloween' is free for members of The Contemporaries, $75 in advance for those with tickets, and $100 at the door. If you would like to become a member of The Contemporaries, click
