FLINT, Michigan — The third annual Beats x BBQ event is happening in downtown Flint for Memorial Day weekend, bringing with it 4 days of music, food, and fun. The series of events kicked off on Thursday night (May 26) at The Eberson while the rest of the weekend includes a cocktail social on Friday, brunch on Saturday, and a huge barbecue bash and after-party on Sunday.
Beats x Beers founder
Brandon Corder is excited about this year's Beats x BBQ as he was able to make the event bigger and better with more intent for attendees to socialize and network with each other.
“The most important thing people can expect is community building,” said Corder. “You'll have all types of people interacting and networking. You'll see vendors in downtown Flint that you wouldn't normally see downtown. You can expect a fun-filled diverse weekend.”
Thursday, May 26 — Last night's event at The Eberson featured the live ‘Room 4 Discussion’ podcast where the topic was 'the worst rapper of all time.' Partygoers were able to join the conversation and debate while later enjoying drinks and music.
Friday, May 27 — The festivities begin again tonight at 8 P.M. at Comma Bookstore & Social Hub that's set to host a cocktail social featuring exclusive drinks provided by Mira Hopkins and music by DJ Hype.
Saturday, May 28 — Starting at noon on Saturday is the Beats x Brunch at Tenacity Brewing where the food will be prepared by Tony Vu & Flint Social Club with music by DJ E Nyce.
Sunday, May 29 — The main event takes place on Sunday as the Beats x BBQ kicks into gear in Brush Park & Brush Alley located downtown. Beginning at 2 P.M., the event will feature food, a car show, multiple DJs, and local vendors. Kids under 12 are free. Finally, the weekend will end with a bang at the official after-party at The Eberson starting at 9 P.M. with DJ Handelz in charge of the music.
“I expect a very diverse crowd,” said Corder. “We usually have everyone from babies all the way to the eldest come out. I expect to have the entire community come out and have a good time.”
VIP passes are
available online that cover every single event throughout the weekend, also allowing priority entry.
When asked what keeps him motivated to continuously bring events to Flint, Corder replied, “Flint made me. The moments that are created when doing something here are priceless. I love when people tell me they had a good time or I get to involve other businesses in these events.”
“I like seeing the city light up when these events come around. I had someone tell me you can feel the energy in the city shift when it's a Beats x Beers event coming and that stuck with me.”
