The Genesee Intermediate School District has partnered with GST Michigan Works to host a career fair geared towards interested in working in skilled trades. The career fair includes a session from 3-7 p.m today, April 10, that is open to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in construction trades.
The fair is taking place at the Genesee Career Institute’s Innovation Zone, located at 5081 Torrey Road in Mundy Township.
The purpose of hosting this career fair is to educate local students who are close to graduating on career opportunities. A number of companies have signed on to be part of the career fair. They will be conducting on-the-spot interviews with an intent to hire.
Some of the companies attending the career fair include Pumford Construction Inc., Boettcher Masonry, RAM Construction Services, Bornor Restoration Inc., Leidal & Hart Mason Contractors Inc., Schiffer Mason Contractors Inc., and Davenport Masonry.
Representatives from a number of Building Trade Unions are also set to participate in the event. They include: Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Michigan Local 2, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters & Millwrights, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Ironworkers Local 25 Training Center, Michigan Laborers’ Training Institute, Michigan Operative Plasterers’ Cement Masons, Roofers Local 149, Operating Engineers 324, and the S.M.A.R.T. Local #7 Sheet Metal Workers.
