An exhibition of work by local artist Charles Boike is being presented at the Mott Community College Fine Arts Gallery through April 23.
The exhibition “High Profile” features paintings by the Detroit-born and Flint-raised artist who is self-described as an urban gra?ti artist. the exhibition is on display in Room 128 in the Visual Arts and Design Center on Mott’s main campus.
“I’m inspired by the choice of freedom, exercise of free speech, bright vivid colors, and anything that breaks away from traditional mindsets. I feel a need to create a legacy of how I interpret my existence,” Boike said in a press release. “I use my paintings as a vehicle to create conversations within an individual by ?nding ways to juxtapose traditional and non-traditional elements.”
Boike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College of Chicago and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2012.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibition and presentations are free and open to the public.
