FLINT, Michigan — Flint-area youth are being offered a unique opportunity to explore careers in emergency medical services and healthcare at the 'Tomorrow's Healthcare Heroes: Hands On Health' event on Saturday, Dec. 14, hosted by Costa Rose Inc.
The community-focused event will take place at New Standard Academy (2040 W Carpenter Rd) from 1-3 PM and is tailored to students ages 12-18.
Designed to spark interest in fields such as phlebotomy, emergency medical technician (EMT) services, and paramedicine, 'Hands On Health' will feature presentations from three professionals in the field:
Kentrail Phipps, a Firefighter EMT with the City of Flint, will provide firsthand insights into the skills and dedication required to serve on the front lines of emergency medical services.
Kwame Hogan, battalion chief at the City of Flint Fire Department, will share his expertise in leadership in crises and the operational demands of emergency management.
Cicily Muhammad, CEO of Stress Free Mobile Labs LLC, will share her journey of making healthcare services more accessible through mobile labs. A Flint native, Muhammad also brings another entrepreneurial perspective as a celebrity makeup artist and the owner of FanCee Charcuterie LLC.
"This event offers an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to directly engage with professionals across various sectors of healthcare and emergency services," said Tamar Swain, President of Costa Rose Inc. "Participants will gain valuable insights into educational pathways and the requisite skills for pursuing careers in these vital fields."
In addition to the presentations, attendees can ask questions, learn about the educational and certification requirements for various roles, and explore how they can make a difference in their communities through these careers.
The event is free to attend, and light refreshments will be provided. Participants are encouraged to register online at costaroseinc.com
