FLINT, Michigan—Snowbirds rejoice: Direct flights to Ft. Lauderdale are making a return to Flint’s Bishop International Airport again this winter.
“Allegiant is all about fun in the sun, and we are excited to be able to continue to provide our region with ultra-low nonstop fares — not only seasonally to Ft. Lauderdale, but year-round to Orlando/Sanford, Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers and Tampa Bay/St. Pete,” said Nino Sapone, Bishop Airport’s deputy director.
Nonstop flights to Ft. Lauderdale start flying again on December 20, 2019. The airline will operate the route on Fridays and Mondays through April 13. The flight from Flint departs at 11:36 a.m. arriving in Ft. Lauderdale at 2:36 p.m. The flight from Ft Lauderdale departs at 7:40 a.m. and returns to Flint at 10:46 a.m.
Allegiant has grown exponentially this year at Bishop, surpassing Delta Airlines as the largest airline in Flint. It accounts for about 40 percent of Bishop Airport’s customers — largely because of its non-stop service to Florida destinations.
Bishop Airport also is served by United, which added additional Chicago service in April, and American, which launches service to Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 4.

“The addition of the nonstop flight to Ft. Lauderdale last year reflects our region’s immense interest in Florida travel—it is a positive sign for Flint Bishop and Allegiant,” said Pat Corfman, director of marketing and public relations for Bishop. ” The addition of new flights to Florida just strengthens everything.”
Tickets to Ft. Lauderdale and Allegiant’s other destinations are available online at allegiant.com or through a travel agent. Allegiant does not show up on booking sites like Expedia and Travelocity.
