FLINT, Michigan – On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Flint community will come together for the 'Coldest Night of the Year' (CNOY), a family-friendly fundraising walk aimed at supporting Shelter of Flint in its mission to provide safe housing and stability for those in need. The event will take place at the Mott Community College Event Center (1401 E Court St.), with check-in starting at 4:00 PM and the walk beginning at 5:00 PM.
Organizers are calling on individuals, families, and groups to lace up their boots and brave the winter night in solidarity with those who face homelessness during Michigan’s harshest winter months. Participants can register at
cnoy.com/flint to join the walk and fundraise to help end homelessness in Genesee County.
“This walk allows us to step into the shoes of those who face the harsh Michigan winter without a place to call home. It reignites our commitment to the work we do each day to provide stability for those in need,” said Shelter of Flint CEO Linda Bielskis.
Participants can form fundraising teams by inviting family, friends, and coworkers to the cause. Walkers will have the option to complete either a 1-mile or 3-mile route, with live musical entertainment and warm Starbucks beverages along the way to keep spirits high.
Following the walk, attendees will gather for a post-walk celebration featuring warm food and drinks provided by Timothy’s Pub. Additionally, those who raise $150 or more (or $75 for youth) will receive an exclusive 'Coldest Night of the Year' beanie as a token of appreciation.
Now in its fourth year, Shelter of Flint aims to make 2025’s event the biggest yet, setting a fundraising goal of $25,000 to continue providing housing and support services for Genesee County residents in need.
For over 40 years, Shelter of Flint has provided essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The organization relies on fundraising efforts like CNOY to sustain its work and expand its impact.
