FLINT, Michigan — Ten of Genesee County’s most promising young entrepreneurs will take center stage at the Youth Entrepreneurship (YE) Final Pitch Competition on Thursday, April 24, at the Genesee Career Institute (5081 Torrey Rd) in Flint.
Hosted by the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD), the event will feature high school students pitching their business ideas for a chance to win cash prizes.
The competitors, who have already won in local school district contests, will present their innovative products, services, social enterprises, or technology businesses to a panel of judges.
The top three finalists will earn cash prizes of $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place. All 10 participants will receive a monetary award for their efforts.
“This event is an incredible opportunity for students to develop their entrepreneurial mindset and gain the confidence to turn their ideas into reality,” said Kimberly Dehmel, Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator, in a press statement. “We are excited to see the creativity and passion these young innovators bring to the competition.”
Beyond the prizes, the YE Final Pitch Competition offers students real-world entrepreneurial experience, helping them develop critical skills in business planning, public speaking, and problem-solving. Organizers hope the competition will inspire the next generation of business leaders and innovators.
