FLINT, Michigan — Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church is calling on the community to come together for a unity prayer on Sunday, Jan. 26, during its 10 a.m. worship service. The event aims to promote health, protection, and spiritual intervention for the youth of Genesee County amid ongoing community violence.
Dr. Rabon L. Turner, Pastor of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, emphasized the importance of collective action.
“As a result of the continued violence that has plagued our communities and inadvertently harmed our children, Grace Emmanuel is bringing the community together in a unified voice to ask for spiritual intervention for our children in 2025,” he said. “At a time when people are making New Year’s resolutions and identifying ways to make themselves better people, we want everyone to include doing what they can to protect our children to their lists.”
Kelcy Williams, Chair of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry, highlighted the event's urgency. “Unfortunately, our children are the unintended targets of violence. Children are innocents in many of these senseless acts of violence, and we, as a community, are asking people to pray with us to intervene for our young people,” said Williams.
Founded in 1966 by Rev. Lindell Brady, Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church has a long history of serving the greater Flint community. Under the leadership of Dr. Turner since 2020, the church has remained committed to addressing pressing issues affecting local families.
