Kroger is partnering with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to help local families in need with its fourth annual “From Hearts to Homes” campaign.
Kroger shoppers can make a donation to the local food bank by selecting a pre-filled $5 or $10 bag of groceries to donate. Each bag contains non-perishable foods such as canned vegetables, proteins such as tuna and grains such as rice. Shoppers also have the option to donate $1, $5 or $10 to the campaign at the register.
All Michigan Kroger stores are collaborating with local food banks and rescue organizations as part of the campaign. Other participating agencies include Food Bank of South Central Michigan, Food Gatherers, Forgotten Harvest, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
“From Hearts to Homes” is part of Kroger’s “Zero Hunger Zero Waste” plan to end hunger in local communities and eliminate waste across its company by 2025. The effort started just over a year ago and Kroger stores have since donated 5.3 million pounds of food to the six local food bank partners throughout Michigan.
The From Hearts to Homes campaign continues through Feb. 2, 2019.
