FLINT, Michigan—Legal Services of Eastern Michigan is working to make its services even more accessible to Flint residents by hosting office hours in two different locations in the community weekly.
You can find attorneys from Legal Services of Eastern Michigan 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Luke NEW Life Center and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays at St. Mary Catholic Church. Legal Services of Eastern Michigan offers free legal help to low- and middle-income people and senior citizens.
Legal Services does not offer assistance with criminal matters, but it does offer a plethora of other help including assistance with family law, expungements, consumer issues, benefits, bankruptcies and advocacy.
You do not have to be poor to receive help from Legal Services. It offers free assistance to anyone making two times the federal poverty level as well as all people over age 65. The federal poverty level is more than $50,000 for a family of four and the eligibility threshold can be higher depending on clients’ specific needs.
Legal Services of Eastern Michigan has been in operation since 1951. It serves 14 area counties including Genesee County. It’s main local office is located in downtown Flint at 436 S. Saginaw St. It also offers home visits for the elderly and homebound individuals.
