MW Gallery set to host an evening of jazz and art with Roger L. Jones II and Trioisms

FLINT, Michigan — MW Gallery in Downtown Flint will host the event 'Melodic Inspirations: An Evening of Jazz and Art' on Friday, Nov. 1, from 7-9 p.m., featuring a live performance by renowned Flint pianist Roger L. Jones II and his group, Trioisms. The event is open to the public at no cost and celebrates the relationship between visual art and jazz music.

Attendees will experience Jones’ powerful performance set against the gallery's current exhibit, 'Beyond the Physical World: Abstraction from the Mott-Warsh Collection.' This exhibition highlights works from the Mott-Warsh Collection, including abstract paintings, sculptures, and mixed media by artists like McArthur Binion, Mary Lovelace O'Neal, and Hale Woodruff.

Jones, an Oberlin Conservatory alum with a career spanning three decades, has played with jazz greats including Joe Henderson and Wynton Marsalis. Known for his technical skill and emotional depth, he cites Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Art Tatum as key influences.
