FLINT, Michigan — After successfully raising $236,000 for the Hurley Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program last year, Pink Night Palooza is bringing back the annual fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023. This year, funds raised from Pink Night Palooza will support patients fighting various types of cancer.
Pink Night Palooza is an annual fundraiser that helps to directly relieve the financial burdens of patients so they can concentrate on treatment, wellness, and getting back to work and family.
For over 15 years, Hurley Medical Center and Financial Plus Credit Union have worked together to raise money to help breast cancer patients make ends meet. This year’s attendees will be able to spread their love to those suffering from cancer.
“We added an option for you to choose the direction of your donation two years ago, realizing that with the success of Pink Night Palooza, we can now expand our reach to helping in other ways,” said Patricia Creighton, the events director at the Hurley Foundation.
When sponsoring or purchasing a ticket for this year’s event, attendees will be prompted to choose where they would like to see their money make the most impact: Breast Cancer Navigation Services Fund or General Cancer Services Fund.
“As always, our goal is to raise awareness and funds for our patients fighting the effects of this terrible disease,” said Creighton.
The concept of Pink Night Palooza stems from “Pink Night,” the original fundraiser that began in 2007, organized solely by Financial Plus Credit Union to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society.
Inspired by this initiative, Hurley Medical Center debuted Pink Palooza two years later to raise money to support Hurley's Breast Health Navigation Program, an initiative designed to ease the financial burden of cancer treatment for the patients at Hurley Medical Center. After seeing the impact of this local fundraising idea, in 2015, Hurley and Financial Plus joined forces and renamed the event Pink Night Palooza. With this partnership, Pink Night Palooza has grown tremendously.
“The first year, we raised $25,000 and it has continued to grow over the years, raising $236,000 in 2022 for Hurley Foundation's Breast Cancer Navigation Fund and an additional $15,000 to General Cancer Services Fund,” shared Creighton.
