FLINT, Michigan—Flint hotspots will be in the spotlight this week as one of two cities being featured in the PBS series “Under the Radar Michigan.”
The gardens and estate at Applewood, the art of MW Gallery, and the burgers at Soggy Bottom Bar all will be highlighted in this week’s episode of the show that specializes in highlighting Michigan travel destinations.
The 30-minute episode also showcases three stops in Owosso. It airs locally at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 on WCMU, the Flint-area’s PBS provider.
The show also will air in the Detroit-area at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 31 before being released to other PBS-partner stations statewide and in Canada.
“Under the Radar” host Tom Daldin and executive producer Jim Edelman also will be in Flint 6 p.m. today, Aug. 28, for a presentation and book signing at the Flint Public Library. Copies of their books, “The First 50” and “The Next 50” will be available for purchase. For more information, visit the

“Under the Radar” launched in 2010 and has won at least five Emmys. It describes itself as “the PBS TV show that explores the best of Michigan. The object is to discover the people, places and things that make Michigan great.”
