Kettering University builds new ‘gateway’ to campus
New signs and structures went up this spring along Chevrolet Avenue and are part of an overall campus improvement project.
FLINT, MI—Kettering University’s campus and surrounding area continue to get a facelift.
Amid a myriad of enhancements over the past several years, Kettering recently added a “gateway” to the campus at the corner of Chevrolet Avenue and Kearsley Street.
The gateway is part of a larger project currently being finished throughout campus that includes lighting and signage denoting campus buildings and facilities, as well as signage upgrades throughout campus.
According to a statement from Kettering, the signage “is the latest step in the rapid improvement of the region extending from Hammerberg Road to Kettering’s campus.”
Other upgrades in the area include the nearby renovated Powers Catholic High School, and the transformation of the former industrial site known as Chevy in the Hole. The former brownfield is being converted to Chevy Commons, an urban park with natural vegetation and paved pathways for walking and biking. Once finished there will also be an autonomous vehicle proving ground on the site as well, which will be the only facility of its kind on a college campus.
