‘Mott, Motown & More’ returns to FIM Capitol Theatre with theme celebrating legendary performers

FLINT, Michigan — On Friday, May 16, the Foundation for Mott Community College will present the 18th annual ‘Mott, Motown & More Celebrity Lip Sync Show at the FIM Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint. The event will feature a lineup of familiar faces and a spotlight on local talent.

This year’s theme, ‘The Legacy of Legends,’ honors music icons through lively performances by community leaders and entertainers. Returning performers include neurologist Dr. Sunita Tummala; Pat Hill, costume designer for The New McCree Theatre; Harold Hill, operations manager at the Greater Flint Arts Council; and Bruce Bradley, CEO of Tapology. The show is directed and choreographed by Cherisse Bradley.

Leading the evening as co-emcees are Pastor Dr. Tonya Bailey, co-pastor at Hand to God Ministries and owner of BeBe’s Boutique, alongside David Smith, local author and retired Skaff Carpet & Furniture executive. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

“We’re thrilled to be back for our 18th year of Mott, Motown & More,” said Lennetta Coney, president of The Foundation for Mott Community College. “This show continues to be a fun, ‘must-see’ event in the community. We’re also so appreciative of the volunteers who perform in the show, enabling us to provide the financial support so many of our students need.”

In addition to the show, attendees can enjoy a pre-show dinner at the Mott Community College Culinary Arts Institute beginning at 5:30 p.m., and an after-party with the cast and crew in the Capitol Theatre’s Black Box space.

Tickets are available in three tiers:

$100 for dinner, show, and after-party
$85 for the show and after-party
$35 for the show only

The event is made possible with support from major sponsors, including FIM and ELGA Credit Union, with additional contributions from MTA, MCC Bruin Club, The Genesee Group, Security Credit Union, Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, Attorney Matthew Norwood, and Essence and Glenn Wilson.

A grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation also supports the pre-show dinner, aiming to introduce more community members to the Culinary Arts program.
