New McCree Theatre to host encore performance of The Motown Story in Beecher
McCree Theatre brings The Motown Story back to Beecher for a one-day-only encore performance.

FLINT, Michigan — The New McCree Theatre has scheduled a one-day-only encore performance of The Motown Story after strong demand from audience members who were unable to attend the production’s earlier sold-out shows.

The New McCree Theatre’s mission is to tell the African American story in the African American voice through theatre productions, Black history documentary films, and performing arts workshops.
The special performance is set for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Randall Coates Auditorium, next to Beecher High School at 1020 W. Coldwater Road in Flint. Admission is $25.
The Motown Story’s original run included 12 performances, 10 of which sold out, prompting requests for an additional opportunity to see the musical.
The encore performance is also being presented as a tribute to George Moss, an influential figure in the Beecher community and the founder of the Black Arts Festival, an annual celebration formerly held at the Coates Auditorium that helped cultivate the talents of Beecher Community School students.
Executive Director Charles H. Winfrey said, “In addition to satisfying those who were turned away during our recent run, we want to engage the Beecher community and invite them into the McCree Theatre family with this performance on their home turf.”
Tickets are available at McCree Theatre, 4601 Clio Road, The Music Planet, 517 W. Carpenter Road, and through the theatre’s website. Additional information is available by calling (810) 787-2200.
