FLINT, Michigan — The Grammy-nominated duo Black Violin is set to perform at the FIM Capitol Theatre on Saturday, May 10, at 8 p.m., offering Flint audiences a powerful blend of classical strings and Hip-Hop beats that’s breaking barriers in the music world.

Comprised of classically trained musicians Wil Baptiste (viola, vocals) and Kev Marcus (violin), Black Violin has captivated global audiences with a sound that merges their classical roots with modern rhythms. Their performance in Flint is part of their ongoing mission to challenge stereotypes and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds through the power of music.

The group’s most recent work includes a collaboration with The Blind Boys of Alabama, “The Message,” which earned a 2024 Grammy nomination for Best Americana Performance. Their 2019 album ‘Take the Stairs’ also received Grammy recognition for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

Tickets for the Flint performance start at $40, with a discounted rate of $28 (plus fees) available for Genesee County residents. A limited number of VIP packages are also available, offering premium seating, pre-show soundcheck access, a Q&A with the artists, merchandise discounts, and other perks.

Presented by the Flint Institute of Music (FIM), the event is expected to draw a diverse audience from across the region.
