Panelists set to speak on Civic Park’s On the Ground neighborhood coverage

FLINT, Michigan—From May to October 2019, Civic Park was the center of Flintside’s On the Ground coverage. By embedding ourselves in the Civic Park neighborhood, we were able to publish community journalism, including features on the people and events like the centennial and provided needed coverage on one of Flint’s historic neighborhoods.

To conclude the initial six-month run of On the Ground Civic Park, Flintside is hosting a conversation with those covered and involved in our coverage in order to take a look back at their experiences, the effect of neighborhood journalism, and hopes for what is to come.

 

We’d love for you to join us for a community discussion from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 in the lower sanctuary of Joy Tabernacle Church on 2505 N. Chevrolet Ave.

 

The panel will feature Robert McCathern, pastor of Joy Tabernacle Church and executive director of the Urban Renaissance Center; Inez Taylor, a longtime resident of Civic Park; Linn Aikens, park adopter of the Hidden Park; and Maurice Davis, Flint City councilman of the 2nd Ward.
