FLINT, Michigan — Hive Holistic Center‘s The Roots Run Festival raised community unity through sound and healing. The three-day festival celebrated creativity, wellness, and connection, providing spaces for individuals to gather, express themselves, and forge relationships through art and shared experiences across three distinct locations.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with smiles and a refreshing cup of cacao, setting a positive tone for the week. On the first day, held at the Hive Holistic Center in downtown Flint, attendees enjoyed open-mic performances, poetry, acoustic music, and sound baths, which encouraged them to slow down, reflect, and connect with one another.

Owned by Hunter O’Connor and Alberto Bercich, the Hive Holistic Center created a welcoming environment for artists and community members. Featured poets Jo Ikigai and Ashleycae delivered captivating performances that resonated with the audience and reinforced the festival’s message of creativity and belonging.

The celebration extended to Flint’s Carriage Town neighborhood on the second day, bringing the festival beyond the confines of the Hive and into the community. Artists, musicians, and attendees gathered to share stories, performances, and meaningful conversations, strengthening local connections.

The festival concluded on the third day at the Local 432, where The Luv Locs performed an energetic reggae set that drew a lively crowd. The music filled the venue as community members danced, sang along, and celebrated the festival’s spirit. The final performance served as a fitting conclusion to three days dedicated to art, culture, and togetherness.

From poetry and wellness to live music and community gatherings, Roots Run Festival provided an inclusive experience for all attendees.

Through the collaborative efforts of Hive Holistic Center and The Luv Locs Experiment, the event demonstrated the transformative power of creativity in fostering community cohesion and celebrating Flint’s thriving artistic landscape.
