FLINT, Michigan—The next neighborhood planning meeting in Civic Park is set for 2-4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Haskell Community Center on Forest Hill Avenue. Hosted by City of Flint planners, this is the second of seven neighborhood planning meetings intended to develop a neighborhood agenda for beautification efforts and improving the quality of life.

Civic Park is one of 15 neighborhood collaborations conducted so far as part of the implementation of Imagine Flint, the city’s master plan and redevelopment initiative covering land use, neighborhoods, transportation, the environment, parks, infrastructure, and economic development.

The meeting is part of a planning process that will take several months and that is designed to engage Civic Park residents, community leaders, and business owners. The Sept. 7 meeting will revisit issues previously raised by residents — including cleaning up blight, removing street trees, sparking economic development and investing in parks, city officials said.

The first neighborhood meeting on July 20 included a review of planning department data on the neighborhood as well as a mapping exercise for residents to identify neighborhood assets.
