Sign Up Now: Free Alzheimer’s screening coming to Flint on June 21

FLINT, Michigan — Flint residents will have a rare opportunity to get ahead of Alzheimer’s disease later this month at no cost. Neurogen Biomarking, in partnership with Insight and Linus Health, is hosting a free Community Brain Health Day on Saturday, June 21, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Insight’s 4800 S. Saginaw St. location.

The event, called ‘Capturing Memories,’ offers advanced brain health screenings that are typically unavailable in local clinics and valued at over $500.

Through a combination of cognitive assessments and blood biomarker testing, participants can get an early read on their risk of developing Alzheimer’s, a disease that often begins silently, and can take up to 20 years before symptoms appear.

“Many families in Flint have seen loved ones impacted by Alzheimer’s,” organizers said in a recent statement. “We want to empower residents with knowledge and resources to take charge of their brain health.”

Participants will receive:

• A digital cognitive assessment and blood biomarker test
   
• Results within days, along with a personalized Brain Health Action Plan
   
• A follow-up telehealth consult with a neurologist if needed
   
• Free food and a welcoming, community-focused environment

The effort builds on the success of a similar event in Chicago, where about 20% of participants were flagged for high Alzheimer’s risk and connected with follow-up care and prevention resources.

These types of screenings are critical in Flint, where Black residents who face higher rates of Alzheimer’s and lower rates of early diagnosis often have less access to cutting-edge testing.
