FLINT, Michigan — On Saturday, Jan. 18, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint will host ‘Aging & Thriving with Grace,’ a free, day-long conference designed for individuals, caregivers, and families. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2474 S. Ballenger Highway in Flint, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. for access to resource and information tables.

The inclusive conference aims to empower attendees with knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of aging, caregiving, and end-of-life planning. From legal concerns and disability support to LGBTQ+ family resources and palliative care options, the event will bring together experts from leading local organizations.

Participants can attend one-hour workshops led by presenters from:

  • Family Service Agency of Mid-Michigan
  • Valley Area Agency on Aging
  • Legal Services of Eastern Michigan
  • Heartland Home Health & Hospice
  • Compassion & Choices Michigan

The schedule also includes a lunch hour with engaging table discussions covering topics like protective services, wellness resources, disability advocacy, and modern memorial services. Lunch is provided free of charge, making the event accessible to all.

The conference also offers more than an educational opportunity as it’s a chance to connect with community resources and support networks. “We want everyone — individuals, caregivers, and families — to feel empowered and informed about the resources available in our community,” says Rayna Bick, Team Leader for Social Action & Outreach at the UU Congregation of Flint.

Information tables will be hosted by various agencies, providing attendees with valuable tools and contacts. Topics include senior centers, low-income aid, and inclusive services for LGBTQ+ individuals.

While the event is free, attendees are encouraged to RSVP via email or call (810) 232-4023.
