FLINT, Michigan — In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a Community Domestic Violence Forum, “Defining and Naming Abuse,” will take place Wednesday, October 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, 1026 E. Kearsley Street.

The forum is open to the public and aims to inform the community about domestic violence. The event will give survivors a platform to share their experiences, seek legal help, and receive community support after trauma.

Survivors who wish to do so will be encouraged to name the people who harmed them.

Organizers say healing begins when the community listens to, believes, and supports survivors, and described the evening as centered on truth, accountability, and shared responsibility for addressing harm.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or sexual violence, the YWCA of Greater Flint offers a free, confidential 24/7 help line at 810-238-7233.
