Know a volunteer who deserves recognition? Sybyl Award nominations now being accepted

FLINT, Michigan — It’s time again to recognize outstanding volunteer efforts in Genesee county by nominating members of the community for the 2019 Sybyl Awards.

The Sybyl Awards were created in memory of community advocate and tireless volunteer Sybyl Atwood, who dedicated her life to helping others in and around the city of Flint. The award honors those who are actively following in her footsteps.

Nominations can be made by anyone.

Nominees must live and work in Genesee County and, while nomination of students is encouraged, all nominees must be at least 18 years old.

Awards will be given based on nominees’ demonstration of leadership through excellence, creativity, and commitment to providing service that improves the others’ quality of life. Judges also will look to honor those who encourage a sense of community, nurture community connections, and help others to realize their own potential.

Nominations can be submitted online at Hurleyfoundation.org through Nov. 8.

The awards ceremony is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Factory One.
