Introducing Angela Hood-Beaugard, new executive director of the Flint and Genesee Literacy Network

FLINT, Michigan—Flint native Angela Hood-Beaugard has been named as the new executive director of Flint & Genesee Literacy Network.

 

When the staff and Steering Committee of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network convened last year to set literacy goals for the next three years, Beaugard seemed the perfect fit to lead them there.

 

She enters the role with 30 years of private sector management experience with a Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northwood University.

 

“As Angela settles into her new leadership role over the next few months, she will welcome the opportunity to meet personally with community partners to discuss the critically important work of improving literacy rates,” said the Executive Committee of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network’s Steering Committee.

 

Before joining the Literacy Network, Beaugard served as vice president of community development at Metro Community Development. She also serves on the Flint and Genesee Continuum of Care, Mott Community College Business Division Advisory Board, Mott Community College Accounting Division Advisory Board, and Baker College’s Health and Human Services Statewide Advisory Board. She previously served on the Flint Children’s Museum Financial Board of Directors.

 

As a volunteer and advocate, she has been a faith leader and pastor, serving youth and families in crisis for 22 years. She has also spent 15 years volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County and continues to advocate for education as a pathway out of poverty.

 

“Her collaborative leadership style is an excellent fit with the mission of the Literacy Network,” said the Executive Committee of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network’s Steering Committee. “We are confident that our partners will benefit from her skilled leadership as together we implement the priorities identified in our strategic plan.”
