FLINT, Michigan — Carman-Ainsworth High School’s girls flag football team is getting a boost from a fellow Carman-Ainsworth alum. Alum and NFL veteran Brandon Carr is donating $5,000 through his Carr Cares Foundation.

The gift will fund new uniforms and equipment and cover summer camp fees so players can keep developing their skills.

“This generous donation means so much to Carman-Ainsworth Athletics and, especially, our girls flag football program,” said Coach Justin Roberson. “Having Brandon Carr, a former Carman-Ainsworth athlete and NFL veteran, give back to the community and invest in the next generation of athletes is truly special. This support will help our girls have the resources they need to compete, grow, and represent Carman-Ainsworth with pride.”

The Lady Cavaliers competed in the Girls Flag Football State Championship Tournament at Ford Field in May and hope to return this spring.

Carr graduated from Carman-Ainsworth in 2004 and attended Grand Valley State University. He was drafted into the NFL in 2008 and played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens before retiring in 2020. He founded the Carr Cares Foundation in 2012 to empower children in Flint and across the country.
