Cork on Saginaw adds new ‘Second Sunday Brunch’

The Loaded Bloody Mary is, well, outrageous.

At $28, the familiar tomato juice-and-vodka beverage takes on a whole new persona as the star attraction of Cork on Saginaw’s newly added once-a-month Sunday brunch. This flamboyant cocktail includes a cheeseburger slider on a homemade brioche roll, bacon, sweet potato waffle fries, shrimp, roasted jalapeno, asparagus, chicken nuggets, pickle and olives—all atop Cork’s homemade mix.

(For the less adventurous, they also have a traditional Bloody Mary.)

The popular downtown wine bar known for its self-serve wines and elegant meals now is open from noon to 4 p.m. the second Sunday of every month for brunch with a special menu and beverage selection.

Owner and chef Marge Murphy introduced the Sunday brunches in February after seeing a huge demand when the restaurant offered a Mother’s Day brunch.

The special menu includes items such as eggs benedict, baked blueberry French toast, and a leek-and-spinach strata.

“We bake our own bread and make everything in house,” says Murphy. “Everything we do is fresh and homemade.”

The menu items can be paired with mimosas, Prosecco, and Moscato by the glass as well as their typical selection of craft beers, cocktails and the like. There is also fresh-squeezed juice and French pressed coffee.

And, of course, there is that feast of a “drink.”

“The Loaded Bloody Mary was an outrageous success,” Murphy says.

Located at 635 S. Saginaw St. in downtown Flint, restaurant hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays, 5 p.m. to midnight Saturdays—and, of course, noon to 4 p.m. on select Sundays. Reservations can be made at 810-422-9625.
