NFL gives $250,000 to Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village for new state-of-the-art football field

On Monday, Jan. 27, the legendary Detroit Lions offensive tackle Lomas Brown presented a $250,000 check to the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village (SBEV) that will be used to create a new synthetic turf field in the city that will be open to the entire Flint community.

Three Flint City Bucks players drafted into 2020 Major League Soccer

On Jan. 9, the MLS held the first two rounds of the draft, during which the three defensive specialists, Nyal Higgins, Patrick Nielson, and Michael Wetungu, were named. The three players add to the list of over 80 former Bucks to be drafted to the MLS since 1999.

Dwayne Harrington, a licensed barber for 20 years, facilitates How the Clippers Saved My Life program that mentors troubled youth to become productive members of their community and society. It’s a six- to twelve-week program that Harrington uses to teach barbering and coping strategies, practices that guided him out of the hard knocks he ran into as a young person.
