FLINT, Michigan — November is Homelessness Awareness Month in Michigan which encourages us to raise awareness about issues related to homelessness and to get more people and communities involved in making a positive difference.
To raise awareness on the home front, local nonprofit organization Shelter of Flint (924 Cedar St) has partnered with renowned automotive company Applegate Chevrolet to help collect cold-weather gear for those who are without shelter this winter.
Throughout the month, Applegate Chevrolet will host the 'Fill-A-Car' promotion at their dealership located at 3637 S Saginaw St. in Flint. A vehicle on the showroom floor will be set up as a collection point for essential adult cold-weather gear such as sleeping bags, insulated gloves, and long underwear as well as winter coats and boots for children from infants to teenagers. All donated items must be new and in their original packaging.
Shelter of Flint and Applegate Chevrolet are also encouraging and accepting monetary contributions. Those interested in donating may contribute spare change or cash at the location, and QR codes will be displayed throughout the dealership for online donations via smartphones.
Shelter of Flint has dedicated 40 years to providing safe housing and stability to those experiencing homelessness, and the organization is proud to partner with Applegate Chevrolet in a meaningful and impactful way.
"We are excited to team up with Applegate Chevrolet for Homelessness Awareness Month," said Linda Bielskis, CEO of Shelter of Flint, in a recent statement. "This partnership not only sheds light on the critical issue of homelessness, but also empowers our community to take meaningful action. Together, we can make a significant impact on the well-being of those living outside, ensuring they have the essential items they need to endure the harsh winter conditions."
Serving the Flint area with quality cars and service for nearly 100 years, Applegate Chevrolet is a trusted name in the automotive industry and aims to make a difference in their community.
"Applegate Chevrolet is committed to making a difference in Flint beyond the dealership and we're proud to partner with Shelter of Flint during Homelessness Awareness Month," said Susan Applegate in a statement. "We believe that true success is not just measured by the number of cars we sell, but by the positive impact we can make in our community."
