Special exhibit by Wasserman Project curator features works by Michigan women at Buckham Gallery

FLINT, Michigan—The public is invited to meet some of the artists behind the Buckham Gallery’s “Field Work” special exhibition by guest curator Alison Wong of Wasserman Projects Detroit during a panel discussion this week. 

The panel will include exhibiting artists Amy Sacksteder, Elizabeth Youngblood, and Iris Eichenberg with Sarah Rose Sharp, arts and culture writer for Hyperallergic, serving as the moderator. It is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Buckham Gallery, 121 W. Second St. in downtown Flint. 

The exhibit features solely female artists from Southeast Michigan that include Morgan Barrie, Susan Goethel Campbell, Lindsey Dezman, Iris Eichenberg, Nancy Mitchnick, Amy Sacksteder, Margo Wolowiec, and Elizabeth Youngblood.

The relationship between man, or woman, and nature is the focus, exploring concepts and inspired by the natural world, then expressed through a diverse range of media, including painting, photography, fiber, and mixed media installation. 

A closing party is set for 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and will include a performance by local musician Aleah Glory.

The exhibit remains open to the public through Oct. 5. Buckham Gallery’s normal operating hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.
