FLINT, Michigan — “If it’s your calling, it’ll keep calling.”

Those words, spoken by Veronica Douglas inside Queens’ Provisions, land with weight. Backed by a quiet confidence shaped through life’s tests, Douglas carries a certainty that feels both grounded and contagious—an assurance that, in the end, things will work out.

Known as a comedian, Douglas does more than deliver punchlines. Her work leans into transparency, using lived experience as a tool to heal, connect, and serve her audience. It’s comedy with intention. To support her creative pursuits, Douglas built a strong foundation in property management.

“I have managed every apartment property in Flint,” she said, reflecting on years of experience and the stories that came with it. Recently, she made a bold shift, leaving the industry, obtaining her real estate license, and stepping into a new chapter as a realtor.

“I always win when I bet on myself,” she affirmed.

However, her journey into comedy began unexpectedly. “My sister is a habitual liar,” Douglas joked. “She told this man in Ohio that I was a comedian when I had never done standup.”

That single moment changed everything. Booked for a show she wasn’t prepared for, Douglas studied comedians, took the stage, and delivered. When the promoter asked her to return, she realized comedy was no longer a fluke—it was a path.

“I just appreciate my siblings. You have to trust life,” she said, reflecting on the moment that sparked a now decade-long career.

Today, Douglas is expanding her creative reach. She has written, produced, and directed her first short film, The Niece Agreement, which is set to premiere on May 23, 2026, at Timothy’s Pub, located at 2890 Robert T. Longway Boulevard, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The evening will include food, drinks, and a post-premiere comedy show featuring members of the film’s cast. Admission is $10, and guests can pay at the door.

Despite her growing behind-the-scenes work, comedy remains central to her identity. When asked if it had taken a back seat, Douglas smiled knowingly.

“I can’t give it up. If it’s your calling, it’ll keep calling.” Still, she acknowledges the shift. “Being behind the scenes has been refreshing. It’s better than putting your ego on the line every night,” she said candidly.

It quickly becomes clear that Douglas isn’t juggling too many roles—she’s growing something bigger. What may appear as multiple paths is, in her words and actions, more like a tree. Comedy is the root, branching into film, real estate, and other ventures that allow her to remain authentic while continuing to share her gifts with the world.

“The world is a better place because I am happy and doing what I love,” she said, before adding with a laugh, “World peace.”

Behind the humor lies truth. Douglas believes that when people invest in themselves and pursue their passions, it naturally impacts how they show up for their work, their communities, and each other. Her journey has not been without hardship. Within a year, she lost both of her parents. She has navigated industries that demand extroversion while naturally being shy, all while evolving in the public eye.

“People have more expectations for you than you have for yourself, and it’s really hard,” she shared.

She also mentioned how, though people root for her, they sometimes forget she’s human. Then, with a smile, she added, “But I don’t listen. It’s one of my great qualities.”

That balance of humor and honesty really defines who she is as a person. Douglas credits her ability to laugh at herself and find joy, even in difficult moments, as the key to her resilience. While producing The Niece Agreement through her production company, New Stoneage Productions, LLC, she was still working in property management, using office spaces and showrooms for rehearsals and filming.

“It was my career that helped fund the dream,” she said. Those calculated risks led to a deeper sense of fulfillment. “I remember feeling like I needed to leave that office. I played the lottery every day. If I had won $100, I would’ve left,” she added with a laugh.

This is only the beginning for Douglas. Now fully stepping into her purpose, she is open to collaborating with filmmakers, studios, and other creatives. In addition to her work in entertainment, she continues to build her real estate career and welcomes clients looking to buy or sell homes.

Audiences will have the opportunity to meet her in person at the premiere of The Niece Agreement at Timothy’s Pub. To connect with Douglas, email her at ronnierue41@icloud.com, find her on Facebook, and be sure to give her a follow.
