Genesee District Library adds at-home streaming with hoopla app

Library cardholders will have access to more than 600,000 pieces of content including audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, music and TV shows.

The Genesee District Library is adding more than 600,000 pieces of content through the streaming service, hoopla digital, by way of audiobooks, eBooks, comics, movies, music and TV shows. All Genesee District Library cardholders will be able to instantly access the content through the hoopla app as of Nov. 1.

The digital services will be available 24/7 with the added benefit of not having to wait for an item to be returned. Also, no late fees. When the item is due, it will automatically be pulled from your device.

“We’ve worked hard to add another digital vendor that won’t duplicate services we already provide, but rather improve our eContent offerings while providing instant access to additional titles,” said David Conklin, director of the Genesee District Library.

The 19 branches of Genesee District Library also will continue to offer cardholders other streaming services such as Freegal, Overdrive and RB Digital Magazines.

The hoopla digital collection of fan favorite movies, newly released albums, New York Times bestselling titles and exclusive STEAM educational content can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform after a simple download of the hoopla digital app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

The service will be available to residents of Genesee District Library’s legal service area, which is Genesee County minus the City of Flint, plus Deerfield and Tyrone Townships in Livingston County.  People outside of the service area can gain access for a small fee, according to the Genesee District Library.
